Endava is an international IT services company, which entered the Bulgarian market at the end of 2016 after acquiring the Dutch ISDC. The company is a partner of Telerik Academy. Endava’s clients include world leaders in the financial, insurance, telecommunications, media, distribution and tourism sectors.
Pavel Yusev, People Development Specialist at Endava, offers an inside look into the company’s Bulgarian office, its role within the global organization plans for the future. We also discuss with him the qualities and skills needed to start a career in the software industry.
What are your plans for expanding the Bulgarian team?
Endava chose to open an office in Sofia because of the qualified IT specialists that can be found in the Bulgarian market. We already have over 120 employees and we expect to continue to grow at a steady pace.
We are looking for skillful software engineers - developers, architects, test engineers, Java, .NET, JavaScript, Scrum specialists, mobile application specialists, automated testing specialists, and business analysts. In our team we also have junior software specialists. In addition, the company has launched an internship program for people with no practical experience in the field.
What qualities do you look for in a candidate?
At Endava we are looking for people who want to learn - in our projects, we use the latest technologies. Communication and teamwork skills are just as important.
Why did you choose to partner with Telerik Academy?
Telerik Academy is one of the first private organizations to train IT talents. Also, the quality of the students who graduate from the Academy is high. At Endava, we value academies as a source of top talent and we are interested in partnering with them.
What is your advice to people who are just starting to learn programming?
They need to be ready to take on challenges and to learn throughout their careers. In today's dynamic world, one needs to constantly keep their knowledge up to date. This is really important in the field of programming, where specialists need to keep pace with new technologies.
