How AI Transformed My Interview Prep and Candidate Screening

I used to have the same ritual before every interview — at least an hour reviewing the candidate’s CV, searching for additional project information, and carefully crafting questions to better understand their background. Useful, yes — but extremely time-consuming.

Before my last hiring round, I decided to try something new: an AI-powered interview prep assistant. I simply uploaded the CV and the job description. Within seconds, I had a list of tailored questions based on the candidate’s real experience, plus specific case studies I could use to test key skills.

Even more impressive, the AI suggested follow-up angles to dive deeper — questions about motivation, adaptability, and leadership potential.

A few months ago, I needed to hire for a key position. The job ad was online for just three days, yet we received over 250 applications. Normally, reviewing them would take days — sometimes even weeks.

This time, I tried a different approach: I used an AI-powered screening tool that automatically analyzed CVs based on set criteria — core skills, relevant experience, even cultural fit inferred from the language and tone of the application.

In less than an hour, I had a shortlist of 15 candidates who best matched our needs. But the real value was in the extra insights — for example, which candidates had shown consistent career growth or had worked in environments similar to ours.

Instead of spending hours on mechanical filtering, I could focus on meaningful conversations and asking the right questions. The result? We hired the right person twice as fast as usual.
